BB awareness tip

What would you do if your little brother or sister called the police after receiving a scolding or punishment from your parent(s)? One parent discusses that her six-year-old called the police late one night after being reprimanded and given a beating for disobedient behaviour. The child had them visit the family's home early one morning, which made her even more upset and displeased with the lessons being taught about child abuse at her child's school. Yes, it is remarkable that a six-year-old can make such a report and moreso have law enforcement respond, but how do you control a child from making false accusations? Don't ignore the topic of child abuse - that never helps. Teach your siblings the difference between abuse and discipline. If parents don't do so, who else will and make a difference?

Let's BB save

Summer means no lunch money, but if you're lucky, you may get an allowance. Here's our first BB saving tip for the summer. Use the LIME BB social plan instead of adding the full-data service, especially if you are only using it for BlackBerry Messenger and social networking (with the Social Scope application). It costs half as much as the full-data service for the entire month.

BB discussion topic

If you won a trip around the world and could only take one person to share the experience with you, who would you take and why?

Dionne Thomas: I would take my grandmother because she has been through a lot, losing her home, having to relocate, and dealing with my mom's death, as well as the death of her brother and my grandfather's illness. All of which happened in four years.

Donique Lewis: My best friend, Jodi. My family travels a lot so I'd take her so she could experience the benefits of travelling and seeing new places.

Shaunette Davis: My mom. Who better to see the world with me than the person that brought me into it.

Pic of the week

A family was spearfishing by the Palisadoes roadway and happened to catch what we in the Caribbean call a 'Soursop fish', the Spiny Blowfish which expands its body when threatened (as seen in the photograph). The children were so fascinated, and Roger Chang could not resist getting a snapshot of this brother and sister pair playing with it.
